European Cooking School Vacations...What a Trip!

The International Kitchen: Your Gateway to International Cooking Schools

If it's Europe you hunger for, you're in luck. Here's a sampling of the culinary classes available. Some emphasize joy of cooking, others its art and technique:

Northern Italian Cooking on Lake Como.
This whirlwind course in cuisine includes four-hour cooking classes in local restaurants, shopping for local cheeses, and sampling the local wines of the stunning Valtellina valley. You tour two spectacular villas in Bellagio. Say hello to George Clooney, who lives in the area.

Sail Venice.
Stay at the beautiful private Palazzo Contarini, ten minutes from Saint Mark's Square. Tour the Rialto market, sail to the islands of islands of Sant'Erasmo (for fruit and vegetables) and Torcello, all while savoring cooking classes on board your yacht. You'll end this cooking school vacation with a lesson and lunch in a 15th century palace - hosted by its Countess!

The Robert Ash Cookery School at Rue du Lac.
If you're more serious about a career in food, then consider six days at a French farmhouse in Southern Burgundy. Legendary chef Robert Ash explores advanced cuisine with, at most, six guests.

Some culinary getaways are as brief as a day-long class in Paris ($250) or a weekend cooking and wine tasting at Aix en Provence. Others, like the All About Umbria cooking school vacation feature a week at a family run four star hotel for an in-depth exploration of Spoleto's cooking and culture.

Are you packing yet? Got your passport? Ah. I thought so. Bonne appetite!
